Unboxing your Brother QL-820NWB Label Printer
What's required for this setup?
1 x Brother QL-820NWB Label Printer
1 x DK-22205 (62mm wide Black on White continuous label roll)
Step 1: Unboxing and powering on the Brother QL-820NWB printer
- Take the Brother QL-820NWB printer out of the box.
- Remove the power adapter, plug it into a power outlet, then connect it to the printer.
- Press the power button which will turn the LED turn on and green.
- The sample label rolls inside the packaging are incorrect for this setup,
- Please ensure you purchase 62mm wide Black on White continuous label roll (Product Code: DK-22205)
- Take the DK-22205 label roll out of its packaging.
- Open the printer housing and place the label roll inside, making sure it’s properly aligned.
Step 2: Initial factory setup on the Brother QL-820NWB printer
Use the [▲][▼] buttons to navigate through the menu.
- On the screen, ‘Set Language and Clock’, press [OK]:

- Scroll to ‘English’ and press [OK]:

- Set the correct year and press [OK] once done.
- Repeat Step 3 for both month and day:

- Set the correct hour and press [OK].
Repeat Step 5 for both the minutes and seconds:
When you've reached the home screen shown here, you can now make some changes to the settings of the printer
Step 3: Settings - Adjust the Brother QL-820NWB printer settings to prevent it from powering off automatically
- Press [Menu] to open the settings menu.
- You should land on ‘Settings’ (option 1/7) - press [OK] to enter.
- Scroll down to ‘Auto Power Off’ and press [OK].
- It should land you on ‘Adapter’ and press [OK].
- Scroll up to find ‘Off’ and press [OK] to confirm, you will be taken back to the menu:

Step 4: Settings - Adjust the Brother QL-820NWB printer settings to disable Template Mode
- Press [Menu] to open the settings menu.
- Scroll to ‘Template Settings’ (option 2/7) and press [OK].
- You should land on ‘Template Mode’ and press [OK].
Select ‘Off’ and press [OK] to confirm, you will be taken back to the menu:
Step 5: Settings - Adjust the Brother QL-820NWB printer settings to enable Bluetooth
- Press [Menu] to open the settings menu.
- Scroll to ‘Bluetooth’ (option 6/7) and press [OK].
- You should land on ‘Bluetooth (On/Off)’ and press [OK].
- Select ‘On’ and press [OK] to confirm, you will be taken back to the menu:

Step 6: Settings - Adjust the Brother QL-820NWB printer settings to enable Automatic Reconnection for Bluetooth
- Press [Menu] to open the settings menu.
- Scroll to ‘Bluetooth’ (option 6/7) and press [OK].
- Scroll to ‘Automatic Reconnection’ and press [OK].
- Select ‘On’ and press [OK] to confirm, you will be taken back to the menu:

Step 7: Connect the Brother QL-820NWB printer to the your tablet
Connect your printer to your iPad via Bluetooth
- Open the Settings app on the iPad.
- Tap on Bluetooth:

- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on.
- Under 'Devices', tap on the Brother QL-820NWB printer when it appears.
- A pairing code will appear on both the iPad and the printer screen. Verify the codes match, then tap Pair on the iPad:

- Your Brother Ql-820NWB is successfully connected to you iPad.
