How to connect a Surface Pro or Dell computer to the internet

Before you start: 

  • Ensure the device is powered on.
  • Ensure you have a keyboard connected to the device. Alternatively, if you are using a Surface Pro, ensure the device is out of its case.

Connecting the device to the internet:

  1. On the keyboard, press CTRL + ALT + DEL.
    Alternatively, on a Surface Pro, press and release the Power and Volume down buttons:


  1. A blue or black screen will appear. Click the globe icon in the bottom right, on the left-hand side of the three icons:


  1. This will produce a list of available networks. Choose the network you wish to connect to by selecting its name and clicking "Connect":
    Please note: You may be required to enter the network password. 


  1. Once you have connected, the network will automatically appear at the top with "Connected, secured" displayed just under the network name.
