Understanding each form field within Form Builder

Background

When creating custom forms or permit templates using the Form Builder, each form field serves a specific function. This article provides an explanation of each form field within the Form Builder.

Overview of form fields and their functions

Section Heading
Enables users to assign titles to specific sections of their form. The text appears larger and bolder than standard text, ensuring it stands out for easy navigation and clarity.

HTML Text
This field allows users to input freeform text. This can include hyperlinks or images.

Page Break
Inserts a new page where the page break is entered.

Form Field
These are the fields where users enter responses. Detailed descriptions are provided below:

  • Text Box - Allows users to input a single line of text, ideal for brief answers or concise information.

  • Text Area - Allows users to input multiple lines of text, used for questions requiring detailed responses or extended explanations.

  • Multiple Choice - Lets users select an answer from a list of options - this is useful for Yes/No questions.

  • Checkboxes - Provide a predefined list of options that users can select or deselect, which is beneficial for receiving multiple responses from a set of options.

  • File Upload - This lets users upload files as part of their response.
    Please note: We do not recommend this option for sites using a Rapid Access kiosk.

  • Digital Signature - Requires users to input their signature, great for acknowledgements or consents.

Form Table
This feature adds a customisable table to the form, into which users can input information.

HTML Link
This field lets users insert website links directly into the form.
