Learn what features work offline and what requires an internet connection.
When you don't have internet access, you can still:
Incident Reports: You can fully create and save incident reports offline - they auto-sync when online.
Audits: You can save audits (location + type) offline, but the form itself requires internet to start.
Tip: Look for the Pending Submissions banner on your Dashboard to see items waiting to sync.
These features always require an internet connection:
| Feature | Why Internet is Required |
|---|---|
| Generate Rapid ID (QR code) | QR codes are signed by our secure server |
| Upload documents | Files must be sent to the server |
| Submit forms | Form data must be saved on the server |
| Final submission of incidents | Reports must be recorded on the server |
| Start audit forms | Audit forms are web-based, requiring connectivity to load and complete |
| Complete courses | Progress must be tracked server-side |
| Receive notifications | Push notifications need connectivity |
| Check in at sites | Requires QR code generation |
Note: While you can save offline, final submission requires internet connectivity.
Your Rapid ID (QR code) can NEVER be generated offline.
Each QR code is cryptographically signed by our server with a timestamp. This security measure prevents copying, sharing, or reusing QR codes.
Always ensure you have internet access before arriving at a site where you need to check in.
When offline, you may notice:
- A banner or offline indicator
- Some buttons may be disabled
- "Last synced" timestamp may appear
- Trying to generate a QR code shows an error
Once you're back online:
- The app automatically reconnects
- Pending incident reports are submitted automatically
- Pending audits can be opened to start the form
- Data syncs in the background
- QR code generation becomes available
- Queued notifications may arrive
Tip: Check your Dashboard for confirmation that all pending items have been successfully submitted.
