How to start a new audit

Learn how to begin and complete a site audit or inspection.

What is an Audit?

An audit is a structured inspection or checklist that helps ensure safety and compliance at work sites. You may be asked to complete audits for:

  • Safety inspections - Check safety equipment and conditions
  • Equipment checks - Verify machinery and tools are working properly
  • Site assessments - Evaluate work area conditions
  • Quality inspections - Check work quality against standards

Two Ways to Start an Audit

There are two methods to start an audit:

Method Best For Steps
Scan Asset QR Code Equipment/asset inspections Scan → Select Form → Complete
Manual Selection General site audits Select Category → Location → Form → Complete

Method 1: Scan Asset QR Code (Recommended)

The fastest way to start an asset inspection. The category and location are automatically selected based on the scanned asset.

Important: QR code scanning requires internet connection. This feature does not work offline.

Step 1: Tap Start New Audit

From the Dashboard, tap Start New Audit in the quick actions area.

Step 2: Scan the Asset QR Code

Tap Scan Asset QR Code and point your camera at the QR code on the equipment or asset.

Step 3: Verify Auto-Selected Information

After scanning, the app automatically selects:
- Category - Based on the asset type
- Location - Based on where the asset is registered

Step 4: Select Audit Form

Choose the appropriate audit form for this asset inspection.

Step 5: Complete and Submit

Complete the audit checklist and submit.

Tip: If the scanned asset's category or location is incorrect, tap Rescan to clear and try again, or use manual selection instead.

Method 2: Manual Selection

Use this method when there is no QR code available or for general site audits.

Step 1: Tap Start New Audit

From the Dashboard, tap Start New Audit in the quick actions area.

Step 2: Select Category

Choose the audit category (e.g., Safety, Equipment, Site).

Step 3: Select Location

Step 4: Select Audit Form

Choose the appropriate audit form for your inspection type.

Step 5: Complete the Checklist

- Add notes where required
- Take photos as evidence if needed

Step 6: Add Photos (if required)

Some audit items may require photo evidence:
1. Tap the camera icon next to the item
2. Take a clear photo of the condition
3. Add a description if prompted

Step 7: Review and Submit

Once all items are completed:
1. Review your responses
2. Add any final notes or observations
3. Tap Submit Audit

Step 8: Confirmation

You'll receive confirmation that your audit has been submitted successfully.
