Face detection issues

Face detection issues

Solutions when the face detection camera isn't working properly.

Improve Lighting

Good lighting is essential for face detection.

  • Face a light source (window, lamp, overhead light)
  • Avoid backlighting (don't have a bright window behind you)
  • Indoor lighting with even illumination works best

Position Your Face Correctly

The camera shows an oval guide for positioning.

  • Keep your entire face inside the oval
  • Center your face in the frame
  • Hold your phone at arm's length
  • Keep the phone steady

Follow On-Screen Instructions

The app provides guidance:
- "Move closer" - Move the phone closer to your face
- "Move back" - You're too close
- "Center your face" - Adjust position
- "Hold still" - Perfect position, stay still for capture

Remove Obstructions

Face detection works best with a clear view:

  • Remove sunglasses
  • Remove hats or head coverings (if possible)
  • Ensure hair isn't covering your face
  • Clean any glasses if you wear them

Clean Your Camera

Smudges on the front camera can cause issues:

  • Wipe the front camera lens with a soft cloth
  • Make sure there's no protective film covering the lens

Try Gallery Upload Instead

If face detection still fails:

  1. Tap Select from Gallery
  2. Choose a clear, front-facing photo
  3. The app will validate that a face is detected

The photo should:
- Show your face clearly
- Have good lighting
- Be similar to a passport photo

Restart the App

  1. Close Rapid Worker completely
  2. Reopen and try again
  3. Make sure camera permission is granted
