Activating Permit to Work

This step of the Permit to Work Info Pack looks at how to activate Permit to Work across the sign-in process and enabling the relevant features within the contractor portal. Activating Permit to Work during the sign-in process is the most important step, otherwise the feature can not be used to its full potential.

Sign-in Process activation

The below will look at how to activate PTW for each of our sign-in products, including where to adjust the relevant settings for the PTW process on sign-in.


Rapid GO / Terminal app

  1. Go to Access Site Info
  2. Select your site
  3. Enter the Rapid GO area
  4. Scroll down to the Per-Learner Type Settings section
  5. Select the relevant Learner Type from the dropdown
  6. Turn On the Enable Permit to Work option
  7. Press the Update button:


 
Scroll down the page further to Workflow Settings. You can adjust the following options for the Permit to Work process in this section:
  1. Allow New WO Creation
  2. Allow Skip WO Selection

If these options are greyed out, it's likely the site is using Default Rapid GO Settings, meaning you will be unable to modify the settings from where you are. To adjust the Default Rapid GO Settings, check out this article: Knowledge Base - How to configure default Rapid GO settings


Rapid Access app

  1. Go to Rapid Access Site Info
  2. Select your site
  3. Scroll down to the Rapid Access Mobile section
  4. Turn On the Rapid Permit to Work for Contractor setting
    Enable the Rapid Permit to Work option for the Dynamic login type further down the page if they will be using PTW
  5. Scroll down the page and press the Update button


 

The following options can be adjusted for the PTW process on the Rapid Access App:
  1. Allow Contractor to Create a New Work Order
  2. Submit Work Orders after sign in


 

VAS kiosk

The Permit to Work process is ONLY available for Contractors signing in on VAS.
  1. Press the Settings cog
  2. Go to System Settings
  3. Enter the PTW area
  4. Tick On the Enable Permit to Work option
  5. Press the Update button:

  1. Add New Work Order

Contractor Administrator portal activation

While you don’t need to enable anything in the Contractor portal to enable Permit to Work for the sign-in process, there are some features you can enable to allow the Contractor administrator to use their portal for PTW-related items.

Enabling the Permit to Work dashboard

The PTW dashboard can be enabled for contractor admins within the Contractor Admin portal. This gives the contractor admin access to view and submit all work orders assigned to their company within that client’s package.

Enabling create new work order via the Contractor Administrator portal

Once the PTW dashboard is enabled within the Contractor Administrator portal, you can enable a feature for contractor admins to be able to create work orders to be created via the portal. For clients with work order integrations, this option is almost always disabled, as work orders are created via the integration and transferred over to the Rapid system.
